Total score for head - 80, 63 being the average and 105 unachievable perfect.
The puppy has extremely typical head with every quality that defines type being overly pronounced. The puppy is "too Boxer". He has a large head with high skull, deep stop and very short, very wide and very deep muzzle. The skull is well formed, but could be a bit narrower at the eye level. His eyes are of excellent size and color and are set a tad too wide. The expression is very serious. The teeth and bite look good, wide and symmetrical. The head is this puppy's strong point.

BODY:

neck set - 5 (perfect, high set neck)
neck length - 3 (average)
neck arch - 4 (excellent)
dewlap - 1 (has loose skin on the neck)
topline - 4 (excellent, beautifully straight topline)

Total score for body - 68, 48 being the average and 80 being unachievable perfect.
The puppy has a beautiful body, with perfect topline, neck set and tail position. A pleasure to see! The body is one of this puppy's strongest points.

FRONT:

shoulder blades - 4 (very good, sufficient length, sufficiently laid back)
front angle - 3 (average)
upper arm - 2 (could be longer)
elbow angle - 2 (could be lower on the chest)

front placement -3 (average, a bit too frontal)
feet placement - 4 (excellent)

Total score for front - 35, 27 being average, 55 being unachievable perfect.
The front is not the strongest point on the puppy, he is too short on leg and could have a better front angle. Excellent elbow and foot placement. Front is very much average, nothing too special to note.

REAR:

pelvis length and set - 5 (perfect)
thigh length - 3 (average)
thigh width - 5 (very wide and muscular)
stifle angle - 4 (excellent)
second thigh - 4 (excellent)
balance of thighs - 5 (perfect)
hocks - 4 (excellent strong hocks, short and robust)
rear feet position - 5 (perfect)
behind view - 4 (excellent, parallel and strong legs)

Total score for rear - 39, 27 being average and 45 unachievable perfect.
This puppy has a beautiful rear, strong and functional. The bones fit into each other perfectly, and the legs are parallel at all times on the move. I expect him to muscle up behind beautifully upon maturity. Perfect topline and beautiful rear together produce very efficient movement, the puppy propels forward with ease.

TOTAL SCORE for conformation: 244.
TEMPERAMENT EVALUATION

Date
- December 18th 2005
Puppy's age
- 7 weeks 1 day
We evaluate several key qualities and grade them on a scale from poor to excellent

Part I, SOCIAL ATTITUDE:

Social attraction - excellent
Following - excellent
Restraint (social dominance) - very good
Forgiveness - excellent
Elevation (reason) - excellent, calmly accepts dominance when in position of no control
Confidence level - excellent
Group dominance - very good, Alpha puppy in the litter, possessive, strong minded

Part II, DRIVES AND TRAINABILITY:

Willingness to work with human - excellent, very people oriented
Eye contact - excellent, outstanding
Pain sensitivity - excellent, moderate
Noise sensitivity - excellent, none
Prey drive - very good, developed
Food drive - excellent, very developed
Focus - excellent, outstanding for the age
Stability/startle test - excellent, outstanding
Problem solving - excellent
Footing sensitivity - none, excellent

Part III, FIELD TRIP

This time we brought the puppies in pairs to the supermarket's parking lot. We observed their reaction to strangers, noises, unusual objects, etc. This being their first trip outside the nest, the results are very important.

The puppy walked forward without fear, alert and curious, attempting to investigate the surroundings independently. No reaction to neutral strangers. Came up to friendly strangers and enjoyed attention. Loud noises - listens, locates, attempts to investigate, no fear. Unusual objects - startle, investigate. Was scared of a fridge box carted around, but recovered in record time. No footing sensitivity, walks on concrete, asphalt, grass, dirt, ceramics without hesitation.

TOTAL SCORE for temperament: by far the best in the litter!!!

The puppy is very brave and self assured, with open fearless attitude toward people.
Seeks human attention and enjoys interaction.
Playful, energetic, but not edgy or hyperactive.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Very dominant with the littermates and does not tolerate being pushed around.
Has developed prey and food drives and is willing to accept leadership from a human.
The puppy does not require coaching in new and scary situations and can stand on his own feet.
Only moderate vocalizing under stress.
The puppy is very intelligent and has lots of personality.
Will be a pleasure to train and live with.
Will grow into a bombproof dog with very stable nerves.
Needs to learn his place in the pack and will accept leadership from a human.
There is not a single point in his temperament and attitude that we could pick on.
FINAL GRADE: pick of the litter

Came second in the litter in conformation scores, and by far the first in temperament. Total grades are 157 points above litter's average. The strongest qualities of this puppy are his head, body, rear and temperament. The weakest points of this puppy are the length of leg, upper arm/front angle and a rather short muzzle. I feel he is the best possible choice in this litter for South Africa given that the front and length of leg are not an issue in the SA Boxer population, but the head type, pigment, topline, rear and temperament are quite weak there. Being strong in all of these points Nino will be able to bring in some positive influence. Having as unique a pedigree as he does and coming from a SAS/PS free background, he has all chances to grow into a useful stud dog for South Africa.
